Hi,

My wifes iphone 4s was disabled and she havent sync it since. I been trying reboot and conncet to itunes as per below instruction.

  • Disconnect all cables from your device.
  • Turn off your device.
  • Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
  • Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
  • iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, then restore the device.

But itunes dont recognize my device and no alert is showing.

please help.....

thanks.

So you didn't take advantage of any of the ways that Apple provides to back up contents of the phone (hint: backing up to a computer is just one of several), and somehow this is Apple's fault? And you never tried to resolve the syncing problem? Hundreds of millions of people successfully sync their iPhones regularly. If you can't there's a reason, and it can almost certainly be solved. In the 7 years I've had an iPhone none of them were ever locked by entering the passcode too many times. If you aren't concerned about the security of your data just don't bother with a passcode at all.

I'll answer this, let's all be real the 6x try lock is totally un necessary, for the vast majority of iPhone users the pass code is to stop people from snooping, do most of us have any seriously dangerous personal information on our phones? If the phone were to be stolen, then the thief can simply restore the phone, meaning the passcode definitely does not prevent theft.

The option to opt out of the 6x try lock, should be asked when i set my password, i would personally set it to 20x, or just leave it unlimited, since i know no one with the time to keep trying my password will be in contact with my phone. If it were lost and stolen, i can expect it to be recovered by the finder or thief.

Also the 6x try lock could be set off simply by my pocket, or a cracked screen, which happened to me. Now i have replaced my screen, and now i am stuck with a disabled iPhone because my screen kept typing my password by it self. I cannot connect to iTunes, it attempts to sync, but only loads for several minutes. I cannot find my device on my iTunes, leaving me with the last option of recovering my phone. BUT my iPhone hasn't been backed up, the last computer i plugged it into i sold just last week, I never use my computer, i charge right out of the plug on my wall. WHY? Why am i in this position for a security ONLY the small minority of iOS users need. WHY? I have Photo's and phone numbers i may never get back, on this phone.

Apple provides some great ways to back up my information, however i don't own a computer, i own an iPad, now what, I'm often not even near internet. Meaning iCloud and iTunes are not acceptable ways for me to back up my phone, because of this and because it's my phone, i keep a close eye on it. So to not be stolen from me. Now i always seem to get burned by the security options that are suppose to be working for me not against me, just like my e-mail with Microsoft, I logged in on my phone and my e-mail went disabled, Microsoft thought someone else could be using my phone since the GSM pin pointed me somewhere un common for me. This e-mail has recovery options too, however it is 10 years old, and although i know the answers to my recovery questions and all the passwords i have ever used as well as the creation address, I CANNOT remember EXACTLY how i phrased the answers to my security questions set 10 years ago. Again i keep a close eye on my own e-mail, i change my password regularly i never leave it logged in, yet i was burned by my own security. That e-mail gives me access and recovery to hundreds of accounts, and hundreds of e-mails. Accounts including my iTunes, my bank, and my Facebook. Why didn't i update my security questions, because i know the likely hood of a real hacker getting into my e-mail was satisfactory low.

Enough about Microsoft, the point being, the level of security is un necessary, and i want the option to opt out of it. I am concerned about my security and i take precautions accordingly, I know for me and the majority of iPhone users that the information stored on my phone is not of anything more then a personal importance, therefore i do not need my phone to get disabled after 6 tries. A buddy could play around with my phone and disable it, a child could mash the buttons up, or like what just happened to my phone the screen can crack and start typing numbers by it self, which also enables the possibility of a pocket typing my password.

Yes i will use my iPhone passwords, because i don't want snoopy people that i am around reading my personal text messages or scrolling through my private pictures. Do i expect the person who steals my phone to care about the information inside my phone, NO. Do i expect them to keep trying my password until they get it if they had unlimited tries, NO. So why do i need 6x try lock? Why do the majority of iOS users need such security, if it is not easily disabled.

I have owned iPhone 3G, several iPhone 4's, and an iPhone 5, as well as a iMac 2010, macbook pro 2012, and a macbook air 2013. iPod's, iTouch's, iPad's, iPad mini's. Yes i know my apple products, and yes i've locked other iPhones before, the worst part about it is when i am at work and i need the phone. Also i should add that all of my iPhones screens have broke from the shortest falls, for some reason if the phone falls perfectly flat on the screen at a distance no more then 1 foot, it shatters.
