Face Time incompatability

My daughter has moved to U of O and I want to keep in touch via FaceTime. I have a MacBook 10.7.5 that was upgraded with more RAM and a new display, and it has FaceTime 1.1.1 installed. My daughter has the latest MacBook, and is using FaceTime 2.0. My son has the latest IPod Touch (Generation 5 IOS 7.) I don’t know what is running on his device. I cannot connect to either of them. I attempted to downgrade to 1.0.2; however, the app site refuses to load it (it says that my computer is too new!) So far, I count three versions: 1.0.2, 1.1.1, and 2.0. Any help? Note: Maverick was installed, and I didn't try Face Time after the upgrade.

If you are running Mavericks or Lion you should be using the latest compatible version which is the one installed with the upgrade. Facetime 3.0 is installed by Mavericks. That is the version you should use. Mountain Lion should be installing version 2.0. Neither of you should use an earlier version than these.
