Created encrypted folder, but it won't let me write to it

I just created an encrypted folder, using the disk utility, and it won't let me write on it.

If I right click on the finder window for the folder, and get info, at the bottom of get info where it has Sharing and Permissions, it says "you can only read", even though in the list of who can do what just below that, it says that I can read and write.

I tried opening a terminal and doing > chmod 700 foldername.dmg

but that didn't change anything.

Any ideas? Thanks much in advance.

You must open the encrypted disk image by double clicking on it

This will require you to enter the password for it

Once you do that then permissions on the opened disk image will show read & write

After it is open them you will be able to copy files in to the encryoted disk image until you close it again

I just tested that with an encrypted disk image on my Mac
