iPad replacement

I took my iPad 4 into an Apple store today and they replaced it with another model. It's the same iPad but a different model number - I'm in Australia and the model number on this new one seems to be the British version. The model number doesn't come up at all on Australian websites (stores etc) but shows up in lots of stores located in the UK.

I guess I should be grateful that they replaced it (it was one day out of warranty lol) but the resale value is diminished because this model isn't recognised here. Can they do this? It's a new iPad not a refurbished one.

You can see the model number in Settings>General>About>Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved). For example MC605B is the model MC605 and B is for the region.

What country does my device belong to?
