    Welcome to the Apple Community.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device.

I tried those steps but no luck.  The problem seems to be with my MacBook.  The Airplay icon comes on with iTunes and I can play music but it does not show when iPhoto is pulled up so I can't get photos to show.

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.

    Hi

I have the same challenge : The Airplay icon comes on with iTunes and I can play music but is does not show when Iphoto is pulled up so I can't get photos to show. I have a MacBook Pro medio 2009 with Mac OS X Lion Version 10.7.5. Software is up to date. How do I get OS X 10.8, and will it help ?
