Permissions error saving or exporting iWork 3 files

Using Numbers 3.0.1. I consistently get permissions errors Saving As or exporting a Numbers (or the new Keynote) document. Even to my Desktop.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

I've recently repaired permissions on this machine (via booting to the Recovery Partition). Occasionally choosing another save location will do the trick, but often not. Usually it doesn't matter where I try to save to. Sometimes quitting the app and restarting helps. But more often than not, the issue continues.

I have exactly the same issue but with the 3.1 version it, still. It's random and really annoying. I repaired permission, ran Disk warrior. Nothing. I can't always save what I'm working on other than Icloud (which I don't use, as I use dropbox). I tried to save in different place on my Mac to rule out a dropbox issue related but the same happens everywhere. Sometimes I'm not able to open some file I saved in Numbers format 20mn ago. Happens the same with Pages Keynote so I'm guessimng it's an issue with the new versions as I never had an issue in the past with permissions.

If someone managed to sort out this issue, I would be happy to hear about it.

Thanks

The thing that solved it for me was to go to my Mac's /Library/ScriptingAdditions folder (that's the one at the main level of your HD) and remove anything found there. I had three files. I don't remember exactly which SA files I had there, but one of them was installed by DefaultFolder. (I've since completely disabled DefaultFolder as it seemed to be bogging other processes down, too.)

I would be interested in knowing 1) if that solved it for you, and 2) what scripting additions you had.

If you have nothing there, see if you have SA files in the equivalent place on your home folder ~/Library/ScriptingAdditions. That's just a guess on my part.

I was assisted by Apple employees in solving this, and am very grateful for the help. I had several presentations to create that wouldn't have happened in Keynote if this had continued.

We spent a lot of time poring over various Console logs. The Apple employee was able to see (in my case) that the .osax files were implicated. After I removed them, no more issues. I just went back and looked at the saved log entries, it appears to have been QXPScriptingAdditions.osax as it showed a few wrong-architecture errors concurrent to the times iWork was failing to save properly.

That is to say, it's possible you might get a clue as to what's going on by watching system logs as you get the error.

Good luck!

Ok, using the Console log I was able to spot the file "com.apple.iwork.numbers". I deleted it, restarted the computer and oh magic it worked.

I still won't be that confident as I have this issue coming in and out. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

If anyone know where to look, this is my consol log related to the issue:
