Apple service help

Hallo,

I'm doing some research and I'm quite 'dissapointed' in the support of apple. All other brands like Samsung or HTC have a facebook page or twitter page about there product or atleast there brand. Apple has only:

for facebook:

apple store

for twitter:

apple store, iBook, ...

comments are disabled in youtube page.

When I take a look at this discussion page the only thing I see is users who help each other.

My big question is:

Are there 'moderators', 'apple employees' who look at this page? and help the users to find a solution?

There are a few Apple Employees that answer questions in the forum. They can be identified by the Black Apple logo near their name. I searched for questions you may have asked on the forum, and could find none other than where you commented on an old thread.

If you have tech support questions, try posting as a new subject in the appropriate section.

For what it's worth, I would much rather have one of the volunteers here help me troubleshoot an issue than one of the Apple employees.

These Apple Community Forums are the second biggest forums in the World, with 8 million users registered, and more than 100,000 'hits' a day.

To answer all the many questions posted in these forums, Apple would need a staff of thousands available 24/7. The cost of that would be prohibitive and could not be offered for free, so instead Apple generously provide these forums and their huge support server base for users of Apple products to assist each other.

There are several thousand regular contributors to these forums offering free help and advice in their own time, of which about 400 have reached Level 6 or higher. Those 400 are able to contact each other for additional advice, and some also have regular meetings with Apple staff.

You can usually trust the advice given here. How far would you trust short posts on Twitter or Facebook?

If you want help from Apple Support, you need to contact them directly.

As stedman said, there are a few Apple employees who participate here, the Community Specialists, but their sole function is to look for posts that have gone unanswered for a couple of days and direct the questioner to Apple support resources. Apple support technicians do not participate in these forums, which are for user-to-user assistance.

As to Facebook and Twitter, IMHO the companies who do participate in those services are posting almost solely marketing drivel and rarely provide anything that couldn't be obtained in a much more complete and useful fashion from the company's web site.

Regards.
