can you connect iPod Shuffle to speakers

I want to buy an iPod shuffle for my daughter but didnt know if you could connect it to speakers? Do you need a special adapter?

Without a doubt you can connect it to speakers as long as there is a 3.5 mm plug you're good to go. The shuffle is really used for on the go if your cycling or jogging or working out because it's so small. You may want to consider something that holds more than 2 gigs unless your daughter plans on using it primarily for the above. I have to admit awesome sound through head phones. I have used it in my car via the aux plug and found that it doesn't have the same quality sound.. This is comparing it to my son's Ipod 4 Touch. The sound quality through speakers is noght and day. Hope this helps.
