My charger light is orange?

Everytime I charge my computer, my adapter light is green. For some reason I plugged my computer to the adapter and now the light is orange. Is there something wrong? My battery life is at 80% and my computer is pretty warm to the touch.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Power management and Charge management on the Mac is very smart. It will stop charging when the battery is fully charged (it will not over-charge) and the light will go green.

When it starts to discharge a little, charging will not begin immediately, because starting a charging cycle takes a certain modest toll on the battery. So you may see it down as much as 10 percent before it starts a charge cycle and the light goes amber while it charges.

That was just an approximate number from memory, intended to get the idea across. I honestly do not know the exact amount, or how much deviation you see between one MacBook Pro and the next.

If you have been seeing 5 percent, I would happily accept that number and concede that 10 percent is too large.

EDIT: I was hoping to find a hint in the notebook battery guide, but it does not mention a number:
