How to resize groups WITHOUT constraining proportions?

How to resize groups WITHOUT constraining proportions?

If I have e.g. group 3 boxes and I want to change their width I have to do this one by one because if I group them I can't uncheck "Contrain proportions". This changed with Keynote 6, before that it was easily possible to change widths of objects in one group. To me that looks like a usability fail... 😟

If you had Keynote version 5 installed use that, it will still be in applications, in the iWork 09 folder.

I fixed it:

scale grouped objects without constraining proportions

click the group to select
change the scale if needed
ungroup (arrange > ungroup)
Format > Shapes > Unite Shapes (the shapes are grouped and constrain proportions is deselected)
click and drag one of the 8 handles to alter the proportions as required
