Credit via iTunes voucher disappeared

Hello,

Earlier today, I logged into my iTunes account and saw (as per normal) $20 which I had put into my account via gift card a few months ago. I logged in again within an hour or two, and the $20 disappeared.

I was just wondering how this could happen and is there any way I could recover the missing $20 credit?
