I purchased a new laptop. I had to download itunes again but my ipod will not sync. would this have anything to do with my new sign in address? on itunes it shows that my ipod is hooked up..can anyone help me please?

I purchased a new laptop. I just downloaded itunes and downloading xmas music. the music is in my library but my problem is my ipod. i can't get it to sync.
