Every time i start a vid or take a screenshot or photo it makes the shutter sound and ive put it on mute and everything HOW DO I TURN IT OFF???? I WANT TO TAKE PICS OF PEOPLE PLAYING GAMES IN CLASS BUT I CANT BECAUSE OF THE SOUND!!!!!!!

When you put it on mute it shouldnt make the shutter sound. It seems like there is a SW glitch. Follow this article, set it up as new and test it:

There have been a couple threads similar to this during the past two years...you cannot turn off the sound of the camera in most countries. Some allow you to do so, but others prohibit sinlent photos due to privacy considerations.
You can mute the iPad and get rid of the sound that way.

Unless the OP is in a country where they don't allow the sound to be muted, as noted above.
That is not possible as the iPhone is setup to meet the requirements of the country of sale and that setup cannot be changed by the user.
There are countries that do not permit use of FaceTime, and an iPhone purchased in those countries cannot have that restriction removed even when the owner moves to another country that does permit its use.
This works for me. Settings, sound, ringers and alerts, change with buttons, turn on the setting, when I turn off the sound using the volume control then the camera sound is off. Just be careful this make all alerts silent as well alarm too.
In the US, it is possible to turn off the sound, but not just by using the mute switch (I know, I tried that and it did not work for me).

I need to have the camera silent because I mostly use it to scan portions of books at the library for research. Yes, that is allowed. I checked with the librarian. However, I do not want to bother other patrons of the library with the constant shutter sound. It is simply too annoying. So, I'm glad there is a solution out there.
as stated I believe many measures is set to make sure it sounds because of the laws of countries who feel a silent one would help creepers
I would look into the physical with tape over the speakers when you record the cats
Some countries will not allow you to disable the sound. Try turning on mute.
So.... Is it possible to change the country or something? My ipad is from Japan so it might be something to do with that...
Or, you could use the mute switch.
You can also simply plug in your headphones. Try it, it works.
i'll have to try that. Ive been wanting to get pics of our cats playing but as soon as they hear the camera noise they stop playing.
