apple tv rented movie stops halfway and spins, apple tv rented movie stops halfway and spins-help!

We rented a movie using apple tv, about 3/4 of the way thru it simply stopped playing after I tried to rewind a few seconds.

Then is just started spinning and wouldn't do anything. Finally I hit 'menu' to go back. Then I couldn't find the option to play the movie again.

I went into my personal computer library to see if there were any 'rentals' to choose from, and there were none.

Aggravated I decided to just rent the movie again..I was instructed to do into 'settings' and choose 'download' as the movie hadn't fully downloaded.

In the setting menu there was an option to 'check for rentals' . After I clicked it..it continued spinning for a good 20 minutes but nothing further happened.

This is the THIRD time this has happened to us. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Would love some help! Thanks very much!

Welcome to the Apple community.

A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.

Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.

You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)

Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

Thanks Winston !

So appreciate you taking the time to try to help. Turns out that I needed to do a software update. I ended up doing a live chat w/service person and they led me thru that. But I will also check my time zone etc. as currently living in Germany. And I did have to log out and back into itunes. Still didn't see 'rentals' under the movie features but hopefully the next time I rent it will appear. If not...i will do the restart router idea. Big thanks from Munich!

There is only a rental section in movies when you have a rental that hasn't expired.
