I have the very same problem. No way to turn private browsing on or off, it's just not there. I have IOS 7.0.4

In safari there is a Do Not Track mode (green sliding button) no private browsing anything, no cross in upper right in safari , In settings under Privacy there is only a Location Services, which is on.

From what I have been reading here I do not have these functions that I need to use to turn privacy on or off. I'm really at a lost. As to what to do next. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I have no idea what you mean. "The privacy toggle is inside the App." I think I need step by step instructions.

Are we talking IPAD? again, in settings ,under Safari , none of the things written about are there. There was someone else on here with the same problem. under safari , nothing to turn on or off, just a NO NOT TRACT fuction under privacy and security in safari Does anybody have any ideas? Sorry but this is quite frustrating.

This assumes you are running iOS 7 (To check, open the Settings app > General > About > Version). There is not a tool bar in Safari that contains Privacy per se. It is simply a button that appears at the bottom of the browser screen and only under certain circumstances. It does NOT appear when you have a tab open to a website, for example. And note that this is NOT in the Settings App. Open Safari. There are a couple of ways to access it:

  1. Tap in the Address/Search bar. When the keyboard displays, your should see it at the top left of the keyboard.
  2. If you have an active tab or tabs open, tap the + sign in the upper right corner of the app screen. This opens a blank tab, and will display the Private button in the lower left.

If you are indeed running iOS 7 and cannot find these controls, you might try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

But I suspect you are not looking in the correct place.

nevermind 😝
