what is identityservicesd?

this window keeps popping up immediately after login and will not go away. it wants me to enter the login key pw, but I am not sure what it is for. does anyone have an answer to this? thanks for the help!

ClamXav is a malware scanner and the user probably doesn't need it, but that's for him to decide after educating himself on the threat and safe computer habits. It's really not for us to say. I can provide some good references if necessary.

Some certainly do, but as I said earlier, ClamXav doesn't do anything unless you tell it to (no background processes, etc.), so it rarely ever causes any issues with the OS.

Apparently he's running it at start up.


When using a PC, or Win 7 in Bootcamp, I use virus and malware scanners. I've never found such things necessary with any version of OS X.
