Try reset iPad

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Note: Data will not be affected.

I am having the same problem with one of my iPad 2's.

A hard reset fixes the problem, but I do want to know why it KEEPS happening - it has happened multiple times on this iPad. This only started happening recently, certainly only ever happened since iOS 7

Your apple device is most likely stuck in DFU mode. All you have to do is hold the home button and the power button, at the same time until you see an apple logo.ℹ
