iphone 4 error message 32

Have iPhone 4 (3.1 I beleive) i have tried everything I can think of to restore/update/or just get anything working. iTunes sees it, it says it need to be restored, have tried updating to latest ISO have tried downgrading, tried custom ipsw's tried every single thing i can think of for 6 months (well off and on) it seems like it's going to work..... says extracting files, says it's updating phone..... says waiting for iPhone, but in the end I get Error 32..... does anyone know what this is? 32, i can't find anything that says what error 32 is?
