In Iphoto 11 cannot access iTunes library when creating slideshow

I am using a macpro retina (although I had the same problem with older mac pro) with iphoto 11 and itunes 11. When trying to make a slideshow in the iphoto app my itunes library or playlists do not appear in music pane. I asked this question before and go some instructions which led me to drag iTunes Music Library.xml to desk top make an adjustment but it did not work. I still have iTunes Library.xml page on my desktop. How do I fix problem and what should I do with iTunes Music Library.xml on desktop?

Exactly what versions of iPhoto and iTunes do you have (iPhoto menu -> About iPhoto)

What version of the OS do you have?

Can you access the iTunes library in other apps - iMovie, for instance?

iPhoto 11 version 9.4.3 and iTunes 11.1.3 (8) using mountain lion 10.89.5. I do access and use my iTunes library directly but not in iPhoto nor in iMovie.

Cannot access in iMovie. The music pane says to open iTunes to populate this list, but I can't seem to do that. While that is an issue also I generally add music to movies in garage band.

If you can't access iTunes from iPhoto and iMovie that points the finger at an iTunes problem and not an iPhoto one.

So, I would ask on the iTunes forum, pointing out the various apps that you can't get to the Library from.
