iTunes Version 11.1.3 (8) - Movie Playback Issues

I have just updated to iTunes Version 11.1.3 but every time I play a movie, the video screen keeps closing and going back to the open screen. It doesn't actually close the movie though because the sound keeps playing. I have to stop the movie and restart it. It will return to the movie but this can happen up to ten or more times while watching the movie. I have reinstalled the software without luck. Any ideas please?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

we don't have the same problem Insumo.. but i also have an issue with regards to iTunes Version 11.1.3 (8).. whenever i play any videos.. the sound keeps on playing but the music video stops/freezes once in a while.. its like your playing a video in youtube and you have a slow internet connection that causes the video buffering.. i tried to reinstall the application.. downloaded the latest iTunes here.. but nothing happens.. its quite annoying.. maybe the next update will fix this problem..

Hi MervinZeiss,

I have been onto the help desk but I am only part way through solving the problem.

We created a new profile and I downloaded a movie to see if the problem still occurs but it does not.

It seems it may be a third party piece of software conflicting with iTunes in the other profile.

I need to ring back to see where to go from here.

would you mind to elaborate it ?


actually i even uninstalled my virus scanner McAfee thinking that it makes the video playback slower.. but after doing so.. still no changes at all with the video playback. i even search for problems with regards to new iTunes 11.1.3 (8). from there i learned that there are many users having problems with regards to video playback..

Hi Mervin Zeiss,

I have been using iTunes since yesterday without an issue, so fingers crossed the problem is solved.

I spoke to an Apple technician who asked me to put the following files and folders onto my desktop and if iTunes works without them to put them in the bin. I haven't thrown the files away yet but things are definitely looking promising to do so.


The files are:

File: com.apple.iTunes.plist

Folder: com.apple.iTunes.savedState



Please note that I am not advising you in anyway to delete these files from your computer. I have no idea what they do and I only did so as instructed by an Apple technician. If you believe this may help may I recommend you back up all of your computer and seek advice from someone in the know.
