Q: ipad 2 shuts down when not in use

When I do not use my ipad 2 it will shut down on its own.  I have to press the ON and Home buttons together to turn it back on.  Then if I am not using it, the cycle starts over again.  I reset my ipad back to factory specs and redownloaded all my apps. The problem still persists.

iPad 2, iOS 7.0.4

I assume that you have tried just tapping the sleep button to see if the iPad is only asleep haven't you? I don't know what else to suggest if you restored to factory settings and did not restore from the backup. If you do restore from a backup, restore as new without using the backup.

You could also try resetting all settings which is not nearly as much work as restoring. You won't lose any data but you will have to enter all of the iPad settings again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.
