Can't verify server, setup.icloud.com

I checked my iphone 4s running 7.0.4 ios after it died and I charged it to find an error message Cannot Verify Server Identity and them it goes on to say that it cannot identify my yahoo mail. I chose to continue to find out that my time and date are wrong. So I go and try to fix that, but its set on set automatically and not working. I turned off automatic and set it myself, but them I find out that it won't connect to wifi, send or recieve any calls or texts, pretty much won't do anything but play my games without wifi. I first try to reset my phone to find out that I have to turn off Find Your Phone to do this. I go to iCloud in Settings and it gives me another error Verification Failed-The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "setup.icloud.com" which could put your confidential information at risk. Then I thought maybe it was my yahoo account on my phone because the first error said it couldn't verify my yahoo account, so I delete that and it gets rid of the first error, but didnt change anything else. I searched for ways to fix this and tried many like resetting all my settings and resetting network settings, but that didn't work. Finally after doing everything I can think of since I can't reset my phone from backup, I go to my clock app (the app not in the Settings) and delete all time zones but the one I'm in now. Then I go back to the date and time settings in the Settings and put that back to set automatically and it works. Suddenly all my stuff works again and I might not of had to delete my yahoo account, but it's easy to add it back on. I hope this information helps someone, I know I worked for hours on my phone trying to figure this out.

Your solution worked on my iPod Touch 5th Gen (iOS 8.1), thank you very much. I had deleted all time zones from the Clock app a couple of days ago, and the problems (wrong time & date - cannot verify server identity) started after it ran out of battery and I charged it. I can't possibly understand how can such a likely-to-happen action as deleting a time zone from the Clock app can cause such inconveniences and worst of all, that it's not been fixed yet. C'mon Apple! Thanks again Anthea1121.

Well done, The hours spend on trying............reading .........tearing my hear ............looping around & finally stumbled upon your solution

Can confirm that on Iphone 5 ( With latest iOS 8.1.1 ) in Settings / General / Date & Time / Set Automatically to ON did the trick.

Thank you for posting THE solution for : " there was an error connecting to Icloud" / "Safari certificate issue when connecting to Icloud" with (definitely) correct password.
