I have this problem and it is making me angry

The password didn't work on my iPhone 4, so it disabled.. normal

However I plug it into iTunes, iTunes says 'to allow access please respond on your iPhone...

- normal

However No matter what I press on the iPhone, iTunes won't recognize that I'm responding.. I don't understand how some rude people are saying the original poster isn't VERY CLEAR

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm hoping you can help. I dropped my phone in the lake yesterday. When I pulled it out it was working fine, but I knew it was a matter of time before it started misbehaving. Unfortunately, I was 2 hours away from my new computer that I had not synced my phone with. Now, I can hear that I'm getting emails, texts, etc. but I have no display. I'd love to sync my phone to iTunes and save my photos, but I'm unable to give access because I have no display to do so on my phone. Is there any way around this? Other than taking to Apple--which I will do today if needed.

Thank you in advance!

Sheila

OK, getting ready for a trip and wanted to sync my iPhone and iPad. I plug them into my computer and it starts this respond on iPhone/iPad. Previously, all it wanted me to do was unlock the devices. However, after an unlock it asks if I want to let the computer access the iPhone/iPad about the same time as the iPhone/iPad asks to trust the computer. I click on continue and after a long while of waiting it gives me the error code ending in 0A. I deleted and installed iTunes and the PC drivers, reset my devices and computer, multiple times in multiple orders to see it there was a synchronization problem finally reset my iPad for a restore from my computer and low and behold I received the exact same error code and now I have a factory reset iPad and it still will not sync! No way am I resetting my iPhone. What is going on? It seems there is a continual problem. Is this related to the ongoing battle with Microsoft of which we must pay the price? I would like some quality help on this matter. Thanks

I cant thank you enough... My phone was locked in the apple boot logo. and I even tried third party software to create a backup. I could not let it even do a back up because it said it needed me to okay the connection from my device. Where is in my first point was impossible to do because of it being locked at the apple logo. I have pictures that I had been to lazy to move that I was worried I would lose (pics of my newest baby boy who is almost a year old now). Thanks to you that wasn't the case. The update worked like a charm. Thank you so so much.

I know this question was post way back but I just encountered this same problem on my old iPad2.

Was frustrated for hours with the same problem of unable to respond on a disabled iPad.

Finally had a Eureka moment - decided to use "Find My IPhone" app on my other device. Confirmed this is the iPad in question by first selecting "Actions" and then "Play Sound".

Once I confirmed this is the cursed iPad, I selected "Erase iPhone" and then just followed the rest of the steps to restore the iPad to factory setting. It's as good as new!

Now waiting for this once condemned iPad to backup from iCloud.

I believe this method is superior to the documented Restore from iTunes (connected to PC or MacBook) method; which by the way, didn't work for me whole afternoon.

Victory! While stuck in the same catch-22 as everyone else, during a phone reboot cycle I plugged my phone into a power charger (not a computer) and poof, it put me into restore mode! From there I unplugged it from the charger and into my computer and I was able to use iTunes to complete the restore process.

This was with an iPhone 8.

Hope this works for at least some of you!

I am having exactly the same problem with my iPad. I haven't forgotten my keycode, my bluetooth keyboard was on in my bag and must have appeared to be entering incorrect codes. Have plugged into my iMac, which I have synced the ipad on previously, but I too am being directed to respond on my device - which is simply telling me that it is disabled and providing me with no opportunity to interact with it. I do not want to lose any data. I am a bit cross about how much time this wastes. In addition to the time wasted wading through instructions that do not work, I will probably have to take my iPad to a service agency to have them address this trivial technical glitch - at a huge cost in both time and money. Not user-friendly at all.
