Unlinking Apple ID from a used iPhone

First, please stop typing in all caps. It's consider shouting. It's also harder to read.

Second, had you read this (not very long) thread from the beginning, you'd know. The phone is useless to you. Dispose of it properly.

I have a similar problem. I bought a second hand iphone 4 and it was reset. However, it is still linked to the original owners apple ID because they apparently have find my iphone activated. I have contacted them through the site I bought it from but they won't reply so I cannot use the website you suggested since I don't have thier password.

Any ideas how I can unlink this thing from their apple ID and activate it as mine?

You can't. The fact that the seller won't respond is a good indication that it is probably stolen. If you can't get your money back, turn it over to the police. There is no way to bypass the activation lock.

No. They can't and they won't. Not unless you have the ORIGINAL bill of sale from Apple or an authorized distributor. It's a stolen phone. Turn it over to the police.

I doubt that it is stolen. When it arrived it had a passcode on it and the seller did give me that. So how would they have known that if it was stolen?

However, there must be a way to do this. Pretty poor system if this cannot be done by apple.

Yes, Apple can undo it. However, they will only do so if you can provide proof that you are the original owner of the phone.

No. I'm realistic. You, on the other hand, have apparently decided to reject reality and substitute your own.

You bought a stolen phone. It's a brick now. The fact that the seller won't respond to you should be a clue.

Apple won't help you. There is nothing you can do about it. Turn it over to the police. Give them all the information you can about who you bought it from, and go buy a phone you can use.

What i would do is put it in Recovery Mode and restore.

Just click restore, and wait for it to be complete. It might take a while.

Recovery Mode will NOT remove Activation Lock.

You are right that won't fix my particular problem but at least they tried to help and were not rude. I thought this was a support forum afterall.

It's not a matter of being rude. We're telling you the truth. There is no way to bypass activation lock. If the seller can't or won't unlock the phone, then it's a brick.
