Touch ID problems

I've recently purchased an iphone 5s and the Touch ID is having some issues

It barely works for me. The only times it does work is when I clean it with a microfibre cloth, then it works flawlessly for a couple times, then it just stuffs up all over again...'try again' 'try again' . I obviously don't want to have to clean the sensor everytime I use it!

I'm not a heavy user, and I'm not a very dirty person either as far as I'm concerned.

Is anybody else having these sort of issues?

I've tried all the things like rescanning fingerprints, having a lower amount of them etc. but nothing seems to make it much better, at least not for the long term.

Could it be a defect with my hardware?
