Q: Why has one of my calendars disappeared from iCloud?

Hi,

Hope you can help.

I have 8 calendars on iCloud. Never had a problem with ICloud calendars, until today.

Suddenly one has vansihed! It's not there on iCloud.com. Also disappeared from my iPhone and Mac.

Any ideas about what I can do? I have certainly not done this, and have not been messing about with my calendar settings. It just disappeared.

Help!

I don't have an explanation for why one of your calendars would disappear, however you should be able to recover it from the backup that you keep of your computer.

    Hi,

Thanks for that. Tried that, but it didn't work.

I edited a calendar entry on iPad last night, and I suspect it has corrupted the whole calendar.

No idea what to do now :-(

Do you have a backup of the iPad.

Good thought. I was wondering this too.

It's set to iCloud backup. I'll have a look tonight for this.

    Thanks for your help.

Ok, so I restored a backup from iCloud on the iPad. Calendar was there for 30 seconds, then vanished!

This must be because iCloud thinks it's deleted, except I haven't deleted it!

    Help anyone?

The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs. You might try the following.

        1.    Ensure the device is connected to your local network.

        2.    Start the restore from iCloud back up.

        3.    Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).

        4.    As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).

        5.    Wait for the time out confirmation.

        6.    Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off calendar syncing (keep calendars when prompted).

        7.    Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.

        8.    Delete any iCloud calendars from iCloud.com on a computer.

        9.    Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on calendar syncing (merge calendars when prompted).

May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now. You might also want to export all your current calendars on your Mac as archives to your desktop, to act as a back up.

It worked! Thank you so much WC.

Moral of the story - iCloud is not infallible. Time to use Time Machine again!

    Many thanks indeed.
