My iPod 4th gen won't recovery restore, what do I do?

I have a 4th generation iPod touch, 32gb if that matters. Yesterday evening, while it was charging, I looked at my iPod and found that it wouldn't turn on. I tried restoring it in recovery mode, but whenever I try to restore it, it gets stuck on the Apple logo and loading bar, and there is no progress. Just to check if it's not just downloading slow(weird, because I have a pretty fast internet connection), I left it plugged into my computer overnight, and this morning I checked, and there was no error on iTunes, just the same loading bar that was empty with the Apple logo. I tried restoring multiple times last night, to no prevail. Whenever I disconnect it(lock and home button), it gives me Error 9(problem of USB disconnection). Should I try it on another computer? Also, If I take it to the Genius Bar, do I have to pay money for it? I'm just a teenager with not much money on hand. Please respond soon.

Yes among other things:

Error 9

This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

The Genius Bar appointment is free.

When it goes into (what I think is) DFU mode, is it supposed to disconnect from iTunes and then reconnect? I've seen videos on YouTube and asked my friend. The video said that the iPod should disappear from iTunes and both the video and my friend said to press Shift + the restore button. Because after I put it in (what I think is) DFU mode, it is still just the apple logo and the loading screen.
