I want to upgrade my iMac G3 to 10.4.7. How would i go about doing this?
Memory (RAM): 512 MB, Processor Type: PowerPC G3, Hard Drive Capacity: 40 GB, Processor Speed: 600 MHz, Operating System: 8.6, Has USB, firewire, & Combo Drive.
You need to download and install
this firmware updater and have a retail Mac OS X 10.4 installation package. By default, Tiger comes on a DVD, so you will need to
exchange it if your computer doesn't have an internal or FireWire DVD drive. The second link is to a PDF.
The Read Me Form Says that this works to upgrade from 9.1 to 10. My G3 Is running 8.6, and also has an internal DVD player & firewire ports. Can I go straight to 10?
I had a noisy hard drive on my G3 Slot Loading iMac, so I decided to install an 80meg HD and also loaded 10.4 Tiger. I originally had 10.2.7 on the old HD.
Now, it will NOT recognize my FW HD now... Have I missed a step, or do I also need to update my firmware, like someone mentioned above?
