Unable to access my webmail using Safari

I have trouble / unable to access my Webmail from Ipad 2 Safari after the' latest IOS upgrade.

When I try to logon to my web mail through Safari... I access the webmail login screen, put in my User Id, PW and press login, the message returned is... "you do not have the permissions required to access this website. Please contact the website administrator" The kids iPad Minis and my laptop (Win7) all work ok off the same hub. It used to work fine until I updated the IOS, then it worked a couple of times after I cleared the cookies and history, but now it does not access the webmail at all.

Hopefully someone can help me !

Two things to try:

  1. Check to make sure Private Browsing mode is off. The "Private" button is located on the left side of the screen above the keyboard after tapping the address bar and bringing up the keyboard, or in the lower left-hand corner if you open a new tab.
  2. Make sure Settings > Safari > Block Cookies is set to "From third parties and advertisers" (the default) or "Never". Setting it to "Always" will break many websites that use cookies for login sessions.

It may also help to describe which webmail service you're using (gmail.com, mail.yahoo.com, your company's Outlook Web Access site, etc.).

Hi AmishCake, I have just reset the iPad as you stated above, but its still the same. When I said the other devices work fine... yes I mean I can access my company webmail from the kids IPad Minis (Safari + the latest IOS) and my PC (Win7 - IE). Its really annoying as it worked fine before the upgrade and post upgrade, it worked a couple of times then stopped. Any other ideas ? Many thanks for your help.

Which version of iOS do you have installed on your iPad (2?) versus the kid's iPad minis?

I ask because there was an NTLM authentication bug fixed in iOS 7.0.3 that would have prevented you from logging in to OWA. The workaround for that bug is to *enable* Private Browsing mode, then try to log in to the OWA website.

AmishCake's advice to contact your IT department before resetting the device is good advice.

There must be some other difference between your iPad and the iPad minis to make it work on one but not the other. Do you have a VPN set up on your iPad? Is the VPN being activated when you connect to the OWA website?

Are both the iPad 2 and the iPad minis using the same wi-fi network (at home) when connecting to the website, or is one using a cellular data connection? If they're all using the same wi-fi network, are the wi-fi settings the same for all devices?

Have you tried using Google Chrome to connect on the iPad 2? (Chrome uses the same WebKit engine as Safari on iOS, but a different network stack, so if the bug is in the network stack, testing with Chrome can help to isolate the issue.)
