Lotus Notes 6.5.5. - usable ?!

Hi,

privatly I am using Apple for some years, and really I love it. At work we are still more or less (except some in the graphics department) PC based. Our mail system is Notes, which I actually like.

I am about to shift to a new department and will be up to get a new Laptop. As I might be in the position to decide for myself, I might go for the MBP without much asking. It will be a critical decision, and I really dont want to have my IT department "laughing" afterwards at me ... "we new it from the start" ; "should have gone the regular way" and so on.

Question: It is crutial that Notes works and is stable. Having the "new" processor on board, anybody is using Lotus Notes with Intel for daily Email? I saw some comments here like "for Notes I have a 2nd PC", and "its terrible slow".

Please let me have you views, I dont care if performance is lets say some 20% slower then other Mail application, that already is the case with Notes on the PC, but it should be usable, also with large Email databases.

It should not be like Windows in a window on my G5 iMac, thats unworkable.

Any hint and real report would be highly apreciated.

Thanks and regards,
Tom
