Maverick installation has wiped Windows OS

Hi everyone,

I had Snow Leopard, and Windows 7 installed via bootcamp.

Now Ive installed Maverick, and my Windows is completely gone

When I switch on or reboot, (while pressing the ALT key to choose which OS I want) I now only get the choice of Hard Drive (Apple) or Apple Recovery (which gives me a choice of how to go back to Snow Leopard using whichever method I used to back-up my files, and won't recover Windows).

Does anybody know whether Windows was actually deleted/overwritten, or is it still there hidden somewhere, and if so, how to access it?

Open disk utility and look for the Boot Camp partition, that is where Windows should be.

Thankyou - I have found it 🙂 But how do I restore it so that I can select it when I boot up?

Finding it is the easy part, and I can't help you recover it so you must be patient or delete it and reinstall.

But I will request that someone with mor Windows knowledge look in here.

Can you post the output of (the sudo commmands may ask you for your password)

1. diskutil list (look for a BOOTCAMP partition which will be used in step 2 and 3).

2. sudo fdisk -l /dev/rdisk? where '?' depends on 1.

3. sudo gpt -r -vv show /dev/rdisk?

From Terminal, copy/paste the results from the following read-only commands:

sudo fdisk /dev/rdisk0

sudo gpt -r -vv show /dev/rdisk0

After copy/paste into the forum, change the font to 8pt Andale Mono.
