Hi! I recently updated my macbook air to mavericks.....

And now, when have an app open full screen, if i click on another app to open it the new app will not open on top of the existing app, instead i now have to minimise my screen to see the new app.... it used to just open so i could see it in front of the full screen app.... can i change any settings to fix this?
