Home Sharing wont connect any longer

Just in the last couple of days my computer wont let me use sharing. I have been doing this for ages now if i turn sharing on my own computer wont connect to the internet. web pages wont load, mail wont connect and i have to turn sharing off, turn off modem to reset. any ideas?
