Mavericks Mail adding account

HI

I recently bought a new macbook pro. Using migrate assist I managed to transfer all my files from my old mac (running Mavericks) to my new mac (also running mavericks). However none of my mail was transfered. Although all my internet accounts appeared in the system preferences I ahd no inbox, mails ect in the mail app. I deleted all the accounts and tried to manually add re-add them but still no change. At this stage I am simply looking at a blank mail app. My OSX is updated so that it included the latest update regarding mail.

Any advice?
