Nov 29, 2013 4:48 PM in response to marshafromkyby MrHoffman,Here's how to update your iOS device. When you update your iOS device locally, you'll be using the Settings tool, and you'll automatically get the most recent version available for the particular device. FWIW, there's also also no iOS downgrade available.

Nov 30, 2013 8:10 AM in response to marshafromkyby MrHoffman,Assuming iTunes completed the backup and if the iOS device isn't being seen or accessed by iTunes, then:
- try disconnecting and reconnecting the iOS device from your laptop
- failing that, then restarting iTunes and connecting the iOS device again.
If that doesn't resolve this, then run a factory reset and restore. I've had a few cases where iTunes has gotten simply gotten confused, and cases where iOS got confused, and — if the steps above don't work — restarting iOS and running a factory reset and restore as described in that tech note has resolved this.
