I am trying to transfer files from my old MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.5 to my brand new MacBook Pro, and I need files in the Library folder..
But I just realized that I do not see the Library folder at all on my old MacBook Pro.
Were these files deleted when I updated the OS?
Should I try to use Time Machine to go back to find the Library/application support files?

Open the enclosing folder, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, and provide Library as the path.

Thank you for writing, but I've been trying GO TO FOLDer since I asked the question, but it says FOLDER IS MISSING. or else it says not found,,, ( I'm not sure) It looks like it is gone.
It seems crazy.
Do you think if I went on Time Machine and went to an older backup date, I would find it?
I'm actually looking for saved iweb files.
But the Library folder should BE THERE.
What do you think?
It's hidden by default in Mac OS X 10.7 or newer. Open the old home folder before using the Go to Folder command; if any other folder is in the frontmost Finder window, that method won't work.

Also: you may not be using the correct path?
~/Library
(tilde is important) should do it.
Alternatively, you should be able to see the home Library folder by pressing the option key while perusing opening the Go menu in Finder.
Both of those methods are specific to the active home folder. This thread is about retrieving the files from an old one.
