Select all text in iOS 7 Safari not working

It used to be possible to select the entire web page in iPhone Safari (prior to iOS7) by double clicking on the page and dragging the finger to the side of the page. With iOS7, this is not possible any longer. It is possible to select a word or a paragraph at most, but selecting the entire page does not work.

Unlike the MAIL app (and most other apps like Notes), double clicking a word gives the option to "SELECT ALL". This option is missing in Safari.

Please fix it.

Did you ever find a solution for this? This ended up costing me almost $60). Anyway, this is a serious problem in terms of accessibility. The ability to quickly select all with the finger swipe to the right gesture and then use the speak selection is very important for hearing impaired people. What I used to do is use Safari's "reader" button to convert a news/blog article into text only, and then quickly "select all" with the finger gesture and tap "Speak". Now with iOS 7, to select all you literally have sit there and scroll through the whole page in order select all the text on a page, which takes 10 times as much time. Apple deleting this gesture is one of the main reasons I subjected myself to jumping through hoops to get back to iOS 6 on my iPhone 5. (Had to spend hours searching eBay for a reasonably priced refurbished iPhone 5 that still had iOS 6 on it,

Perhaps this issue has bee fixed in iOS 7.1? (I still won't update

It's a shame you had to go to such trouble to get back to iOS 6 to regain this feature. I'm using an iPhone 5 with 7.1.1 and the ability to select all is definitely present. I can't say if was re-added between 7 and 7.1.1 or simply always there but changed. To select all text you now have to do the following:

First select a paragraph so that you have a blue dot on all for sides.

Then drag the rightside dot over to the left. Once you get just past halfway across, all text will be highlighted.

As I said, it's a shame you had to buy another phone to get the feature, but on the bright side, If I hadn't read your post I wouldn't have figured it out. I too was frustrated by this, and for some reason after reading your comment I tried with renewed determination to see if there was a method to select all text at once....and voila.
