Nov 12, 2014 4:41 AM in response to giovanni4856by Luc Plas,Hello,
I have Yosemite installed. My Canon PIXMA MP530 prints and scans with the MP Navigator but I do not have the possibility to save the scanned images(neither as jpeg nor as PDF). Is there a solution to this?
Thanks in advance,
Luc Plas

Nov 16, 2014 10:40 AM in response to Luc Plasby J. Curtiss,Exactly, this is the same problem I have. You can scan but can't save.
Only solution I've found is to click the "Scan with Scanner Driver" button on bottom-left corner of the MP Navigator app. Then it opens up the "ScanGear" software, which will let you scan, and when it closes, it pops up a save dialog box.
This is much more primitive to the full functionality I was used to with the MP Navigator app in the past, but at least it works.
It's pretty pathetic that Canon hasn't updated that software. And that I have to throw away an all-in-one printer/scanner because of software.

Jan 1, 2015 11:35 PM in response to J. Curtissby legreg6,Well...I uninstalled everything related to the MP530 on my machine, then downloaded what's under "Drivers and Software" for Mountain Lion 10.8, which includes MP Navigator 2.2.5, and I have no issue scanning and saving under Mavericks.

Apr 7, 2015 9:22 PM in response to fleshkopterby LowellG,YES!!!! This combination worked. Pay close attention. You want the LION drivers and the newest MP Nav, which is 2.2.5. You'll need to download them separately and tell the Canon site you have two different operating systems working. But this works!

Jul 25, 2015 1:41 PM in response to legreg6by SilverMiner,I just got a new iMac with Yosemite 10.10.4 and had the same problem with my Pixma MP530. I followed your instructions and am back in business with both the printer and the scanner. So just wanted others to know that it should work for OS X 10.10, also.

Jul 26, 2015 2:14 PM in response to SilverMinerby tapnav,I tried using the MP navigator 2.2.5 and the drivers from Mountain lion but still had no luck. Not sure what I did wrong there. I can scan but I do not have the ability to save once again. I am running OS X Yosemite too. any other suggestions?

Jul 26, 2015 4:57 PM in response to tapnavby SilverMiner,I am no expert. I only know what worked for me. These are the drivers that I downloaded from the Canon website.
Operating System: OS X Mountain Lion v10.8
MP530 CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 10.67.2.0 (OS X 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8) 04/22/14
MP Navigator Ver. 2.2.5 (OS X 10.8) 09/07/12
MP530 Scanner Driver Ver. 12.13.3a (OS X 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8) 08/24/12
Hope that helps.

Aug 3, 2015 2:56 PM in response to tapnavby SilverMiner,My last reply to your comment was premature. Sorry to mislead you.
The scanner did work the first time that I used it, but has not worked since, with the following exceptions.
In the Finder window there is an Application called Image Capture. This will allow your scanner to work and save the image, but is limited to one page at a time. I was wanting to scan a nine page magazine article. The only way to do it was to save nine different files.
The second way to scan a document is to open the MP Navigator Application. At the bottom left corner is an option to "Scan with Scanner Driver." Open that option and in the "Simple Mode" you can scan your document. Then close the window and a "Save to PC" window pops up. This window allows you to save your scan. Once again, only one page at a time can be saved.
Neither is a very handy solution, but do allow the scanner to work.
If anyone has a solution to save multiple scans into one file, please let me know.

Aug 3, 2015 5:59 PM in response to tapnavby SilverMiner,Image Capture is the solution that will allow me to continue using the scanner on my Canon Pixma MP530, at least until the printer fails.
Contrary to my previous post, it is indeed possible to save more than one scan in the same file. Image Capture has a box that can be checked to "Combine into single document." All nine pages of my magazine article are now in one .pdf file.
Here is a link to a very helpful YouTube video on Image Capture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DWJ4njW_Wg
As suggested in the video, it works best to turn off the "Auto Selection" option.
Hope this solves your problem as it has mine.

Mar 26, 2016 7:26 AM in response to Itchy51by joel_the_drummer,I'm running OS 10.11 El Capitan. Running the most recent MP530 printer driver from Canon. Scan driver is 12.13.3 (NOT 12.13.3a), intended for OS 10.4. Running MP Navigator 2.2.4. Everything seems to be working, scans ok.

Thank you for your response, but I am not finding the page on the Canon website where I can download the scan driver 12.13.3.
Can you please publish the link where you have downloaded the scan driver?
