What's the best way to transfer data between a new iMac and an old iMac (2008 Intel running OS 10.9)?

If you haven't set up the new Mac yet use Setup Assistant when you do the original setup. If you've already set up the new Mac use Migration Assistant. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5872?viewlocale=en_US
