Nov 30, 2013 9:07 AM in response to Duricby léonie,Does that only happen with one particular Aperture library? And for all images? Or only occasionally?
- If it only happens with one library, try to repair your Aperture library as decribed here: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual Try repair database and repair permissions.
But if it happens even for a small test library, remove the preferences file
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist from your Userlibrary in your Home folder to the Desktop as described here: Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
Log off and on and try again to start Aperture.

Nov 30, 2013 9:37 AM in response to léonieby Duric,It happens occasionally - and only since I reloaded my new Imac last week with the Time Machine backup.
I've repaired the Library several times and the Library1Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist does not exist on my hard drive.

Nov 30, 2013 9:46 AM in response to Duricby léonie,~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist has to exist, if Aperture ever has been running.
Perhaps you have been looking in the wrong library. The User Library is hidden by default
in 10.7.x or later - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.
- Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
- Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
- In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
- From the "Preferences" folder remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist".
Then try to launch Aperture again.
But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel.
