Boot camp key mapping error

How can I get the tilde key to work in windows 8.1 running on boot camp? It seems to have mapped the tilde (`) or with shift (~) key to output a (\) or with shift (|). The tilde key is used to open the console in many windows games (like skyrim) so I was wondering if there was a way to fix this problem.

The method I used for Windows 7 SP1 which may work under Windows 8 was to uninstall the Apple Keyboard driver that BootCamp installed and installe the slightly older one from BootCamp 5.0.5033.

Old driver was 'Windows Driver Package - Apple Inc. Apple Keyboard.......'

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638 Look in Drivers/Apple for AppleKeyboardInstaller64.exe.

Hope this helps as it a lot easier solution than some of the other fixes out there.
