Has the latest version of Pages lost graphic design features?

Besides downgrading Pages to 5, Apple has given virtually no guidance to users as to either the features or how to overcome problems. Users report contacting Apple support who seem to be ignorant of what is going on and give very bad and inaccurate advice.

You know that you still have Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder?

I have used Pages almost exclusively for design and layout for the past four years. I was delighted by the announcement (finally) of an update, and then mortified to find that in Pages 5.0 Apple stripped most of the DTP/layout capabilities from the program. The best advice I can give, just limited to my own experience, is to keep using Pages 4.3. While waiting to see if Apple will make Pages 5.0 good for layout and design, we also might want to start looking at alternatives.

I do most of my work on my Mac, but occasionally would use an iPad to show someone a document. I no longer open any important documents with my iPad because once I do, the document is converted to the new file format for Pages 5.0 and the file is messed up. For example, linked text boxes are no longer linked. Even if I then export the file back to Pages 09, the text boxes are no longer link-able. The little link buttons are gone from the text box. The only way to get the link feature back is by inserting a new text box and then copying and pasting to the new box. Frustrating to say the least!

I've also rated the program one star on the App store. Just trying to get Apple to listen.

Note that if you had the previosu verions of Pages for iOS (1.7.2), it will still be listed in your itunes app listing. If it is, you can delete Pages 2.01 from your iPad, then plug in your iPad, connect to itunes, and reinstall Pages 1.7.2,

Does anyone know whether iAuthor has graphic design capabilities? I am beginning to think that I will have to use inDesign, or worse still Word instead of Pages (I really miss my old friend Pages).

Do you mean iBook Author? If so better ask in the right forum iBooks Author
