JavaScript invalid characters

For some reason a site which I regularly use has stating giving me a JavaScript error that my text contains invalid characters (the site is fussy about ISO encoding). This only started in the last 4-5 weeks. Site still works with Camino just fine. I can't figure out if I've changed some setting in Safari, or if a Mac update has changed something about Safari or Java. Any ideas (I've already reset Safari, emptied cache, changed encoding settings etc.) I can't post the site to test cause it's a secure site.

PS. If I select the text in the fields and try to change the font or size, it switches back to Lucinda automatically - if that means anything...

Sorry, but as mentioned, the site is a secure one. But you can poke around here to get the point - http://www.acol.ca/Services/menu.html. In the Bulletins section they discuss character support - http://www.acol.ca/WhatsNew/Bulletins/bulletins.html. You'll notice in there that they only purport to support explorer 5.5 or 6, but I have had it working fine on Safari for 2 years.

Could you provide a sample of some text which the
site considers to contain invalid characters coming
from Safari but not from Camino/Firefox?

It won't accept any text, including this. It just keeps stating that the text contains invalid characters. Normally, that would mean that you've used curly quotes, for example, and have to change them to straight quotes. But now it won't accept any simple text string.

This sounds like something that probably only the technical support people at the site in question can help diagnose and fix. Perhaps they have made a change in code that won't recognize Safari. Have you had any communication with them? You can make Safari look like another browser to some extent using a program like Safari Enhancer.

They say they haven't made any recent changes. I have used Safari Enhancer to mimic IE6.0. My older Mac G4 still accesses the site just fine, and can enter text data without a hitch. I tried using the older version of Safari from that machine on the G5, but it still wouldn't work. So, I think it's some config problem with the G5 machine...
Thanks for your thoughts.
