Mac Air has a black screen but screen will not turn on.

My macbook Air will turn on (I can audibly hear the sound), and the caps lock key lights up. However, the screen remains black. I have tried holding shift and the start button as well as holding command option p and r together. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
