I edit .avi files using QuickTime, cutting out a section of the file and then compress to H264 only to find the audio and video out of sync. Anyone experienced this type of issue and found a solution to fix it?

I originate with .avi files, edit them in QuickTime cuttting a segmeent out and pasting the remaining file together and then compressto H264 only to end up with audio out of sync. Anyone experienced this problem and found a soolution?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
