how do you live loop vocals with MainStage and Apogee Gio?

I am trying to see if I can live loop vocals effectively. I have both an Apogee Mic and Gio hooked to my macbook. There is a template that I somehow managed to bring up that has a visual representation of the GIO pedal board with a few folders. I can't seem to figure out how to record a loop though. I also want to be able to record several loops and drop or add them as needed via the pedal board.
