Sorry for the stupid question but I am very new to Apple. I recently purchased the new I Mac with intel core duo. I have the super drive that burns cd's and dvd's. I see people talking about toast, which I assume is a buring software? Is this something that I need or do I already have it? If someone could explain the program Toast for me (what it's for and if I need it), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any and all help.

All the info you could want on Roxio's Toast is right
HERE.
It is an incredible all-in-one CD and DVD burning software suite. It also has a ton of extra stuff in there to clean up audio imported from LPs, a backup tool that will allow you to span your data over several disks and a whole lot more.
It is a great program and if you are going to be burning, you will eventually want to pick it up.
Thanks for the information but do I need this program? If I just want to burn music and or data cd's and make a dvd once in awhile from I movie or I photo, I should be able to do that now correct? This program is for more advance burning or do you suggest that I purchase this program to do what I stated above? Thanks again.
Right now there is a rebate going on for TOAST 😉 if you are still thinking of getting it.
Move up to Toast 7 Titanium and get as much as $40 in savings if you qualify for both mail-in rebates. Everyone can take advantage of the first $20 rebate. (See the rebate form for details). To enjoy the second $20 rebate, you just need to show you’re upgrading from any another Roxio or Sonic product. It’s that simple. Check out the rebate form for more details.
