Jan 11, 2014 9:12 PM in response to Ali Kaylanby Hector Castillo,Hi Ali,
Any clue what could be my file sharing issue?, I really thought that was causing the mail app issue, but know since you said that you dont have file sharing issue makes me think that is something else, one more issue that I am having on all network users created before Mavericks update is that maps app dont work, but it is working fine on new network users I created after mavericks update.
Thanks

Jan 12, 2014 7:45 AM in response to Hector Castilloby Ali Kaylan,Hector;
I would read through everything here (especially earlier posts until resolutions appear). What made everything work for me is detailed there, but in very short summary:
- Running server as .local
- Running DNS on server, and all manually entered.
- All clients are using the server as DNS.
- Any changes you make to the name under which you serve, kinda requires you blow away the open directory and redo. Reinstalling the server does not do much, but blowing away the open directory resets everything (and yes, users too), and cleans up the mess.
However, everything does not work. Mail <-> Keychain problems remain with Maverick 10.9.1 / Server 3.0.2 as I stated previously.
I can go on a rant here regarding Apple not being what it used to be, and starting with Lion, every piece of software that came out of Apple for Mac had been subpar and buggy, not unlike M$. But after spending way too many hours to resolve these issues, I try to keep all that frustration bottled up. My opinion, however, is that Maverick 10.9.1 / Server 3.0.2 is basically unacceptable junk.

Jan 12, 2014 7:52 PM in response to Ali Kaylanby bpierce,I just ran into the Mail/Keychain issue tonight. This was the final straw for my home server project. I simply can't waste this much time debugging my Mavericks server.
Time Machine and Caching seem stable so I may leave them running but DNS causes problems with guest network use on our AEBS and network accounts with their SMB share issues are too time consuming for me to fix as a home server admin.

Jan 29, 2014 3:20 AM in response to bpierceby robertoraskovsky,I totally agree. Ran into these problems today with Mavericks Server. What a disaster. Someone needs to fix this ASAP. I have clients waiting to use these machines...

Feb 25, 2014 5:41 PM in response to Hector Castilloby Ali Kaylan,Unfortunately, with today's release of 10.9.2, this problem still seems to be with us. I keep entering the same passwords under previously reported conditions... Bummer.

Frustrating.

Feb 26, 2014 9:33 PM in response to Ali Kaylanby Hector Castillo,Hi Ali,
Same thing here no fix for our keychain issue with 10.9.2 & server app 3.0.3.
I am still having the file sharing issue where users keep connected even when they are logged out, I did your recomendations above and did not fix my issue, I see a few apple discussions that are having same issua as mine, any other thoughts that you may have?
Thanks Again,
Hector

Feb 27, 2014 4:14 AM in response to Hector Castilloby Ali Kaylan,I really really don't know how to help you on that one, Hector. But I have a brand new issue with 10.9.2, which I documented here and here, where Finder copies to server volumes fail with error -36. This was not there with 10.9.1. After 3 long months, I am starting to believe that Apple is not interested in addressing these issues.

Feb 27, 2014 12:02 PM in response to Ali Kaylanby Hector Castillo,Hi Ali,
Are your users home folders on the server or on an external drive?, My users home folders are on an external drive pegasus.
Thanks,
Hector

Feb 27, 2014 12:09 PM in response to Hector Castilloby Ali Kaylan,My home folders on the server are on a seperate internal drive. But it should not matter as long as your Server is properly set-up. I did fix the new 10.9.2 problem with error -36 by turning off SMB altogether. SMB is problematic with Mavericks.

Mar 2, 2014 7:30 PM in response to Ali Kaylanby Hector Castillo,Hi Ali,
What do you think about who should handle DHCP, router or server?, currently my router is handling dhcp addresses, I am still trying to figure out why users keep connected even that they are logged out.
Thanks,
Hector

Mar 3, 2014 5:46 AM in response to Hector Castilloby Ali Kaylan,In my case, DHCP is handled by the router. Seems to work fine.

Mar 4, 2014 7:47 PM in response to Ali Kaylanby Hector Castillo,Hi Ali,
What file sharing protocol under Home folder settings to make available for home directories over do you have AFP or SMB?
I have AFP, all my computers on the network are Apple.
Thanks,
Hector

Mar 4, 2014 11:58 PM in response to Hector Castilloby Ali Kaylan,I originally had both AFP and SMB checked, with AFP selected on the drop down menu. But following the -36 copy error I reported elsewhere, I am now using AFP and AFP only for all shared drives. Made no difference in terms of repeated demands for password, however. Just made the error -36 during copy to go away.
