Can't hear sound without using headphones

I used to hear sound from my iPad with no issues. Then I was able to only hear sound from movies or shows, but not from my daughter's downloaded games unless I used my headphones. Now I can't hear anything w/o headphones. Why is this?

Try cleaning the contacts in the connector socket. It is possible that your iPad always thinks that it is connected to headphones.

Also try restarting and resetting your iPad:

Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.

Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

I, too, am having the same problem. But I have an iPod 5th generation. I don't understand what you mean, although I HAVE noticed that when I turn the volume up, it says “Headphones" when my headphones aren't plugged in. I was wondering if you could help me, in a little bit more easier words. Haha. I don't have a wide range of vocabulary.

Please help me!!!
