I posed a question about missing subtitles for a French-speaking video. My solution was to check itunes preferences: for some reason the subtitle menu (under Playback) had been set to none, rather than English. I don't know why this change had occurred. Once I reset English, the subtitles appeared just as I had expected. Hope this helps.
